Health Tests

Like every breed, Miniature American Shepherds (MAS) can carry inheritable diseases that are less than desirable for breeding.  It is very important for any breeding dog to be health tested for ALL diseases that the breed can carry.  For MAS this means Hip and Elbow xrays and scoring, full DNA tests and a new test that can only be done in USA for a disease called Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (NAD) which is a form of "wobblers".  Where a breeding dog carries 1 copy of the disease it is imperative that the partner for that breeding pair is clear so puppies are never born "affected" with the trait.  Replay is clear of all diseases and has 1 copy of the MDR1 gene (Major Drug Resistance) which means he will never become affected, nor will his progeny as long as his partner is clear.  His hip scores are A grade and elbows are clear.
